Most insurance companies do an exterior only inspection after a policy is issued. This is standard procedure to insure the home meets the guidelines of eligibility. This helps to insure lower rates.
Sometimes a company will require an interior inspection. This is common when insuring higher value homes. This is to insure you are adequately covered in the event of a loss, e.g., your kitchen granite countertops are replaced with the same/like granite as opposed to laminate. It also allows you to qualify for additional discounts, i.e., full sprinkler system discount; an interior inspection may be required to verify. There is no charge to you for the inspection.
You can always call your agent at The Insurance Store we will take the time to explain to you why the inspector is at your home to help ease any concerns.
